Rip Barrier

No RIP For The Great Barrier Reef No rest and certainly no peace We have managed to kill The oldest life on our planet! Did I say our planet? She does not belong to us But we to her. She provides for us not we for her. And she is Her For like woman She has been dominated by Man She is the giver of life Pillaged and controlled Her vast rich resources Claimed bought and sold Her hand feeds Man Who chews off limb after limb In the trap of himself Rabid beast Insatiable Without a leg to Stand Up for Her. So no RIP For The Great Barrier Reef No rest and certainly no peace Since we long ago abandoned The Godess and Her symbiotic ways Forged forth with ideals of control And all the rest power drunk Man stole Building our barrier to peace. So no RIP for The Great Barrier Reef No rest and certainly no peace For Her Until perhaps The day we go extinct. 17.07.11 Composed for The Great Barrier Reef & Cyndi MacMillan's contest Pussyhat For Poets Who Identify As Women

Such truth and wisdom Maureen. Earth is the original matriarchal system, and men have since been trying to conquer Her. Yes, surely this will be the death of us.

This is so sad but true Maureen and the sad part is that as quick as Mother Nature heals itself then humans try and destroy even quicker. I've written a few about this topic of yours which is close to my heart. I'm from Oz so identify with it. Are you from Australia too? All the best in the contest and the write and topic deserves top honours . A fav from me...Maria

This poem has such an impact because it is true. I think you have blasted a few eyes open to see the reality of what we are doing to our planet, to our mother who has blessed us always. This is a very beautiful gift and I hope to see it honored as a top winner Maureen. ; )
