Rigid and Unbending
When the mind is rigid and unbending,
it only sees what it perceives to be true
and believes only what it sees.
This skepticism is human nature,
and yet, with the love of God, all is possible.
But bending to peer pressure, people are hesitant
to say explicitly what they believe,
for fear of being mocked or shunned.
Our most personal intimate beliefs
enable us to define good and evil.
But when we unveil the bogeyman's face,
we are subconsciously shocked into silence.
Our friends and family are essential
to a healthy emotional and spiritual life.
We are fragile and need a sound support structure
when our inner demons attack us
over failed dreams, low expectations,
and meager accomplishments.
But do not surrender your soul,
or doubt will be your tormentor and destroyer.
The truth of being disillusioned,
leaves you questioning feelings.
And so hope focuses dreams on tomorrow,
overriding the lies of yesterday
and the frustrations of today.
