Riddle Guess Who

Considered an enigma to many And from the apple I did bite, I was sentenced for a crime But I couldn't put up a fight. Considered a hero to many I saved millions of lives? But now we are more open? A father that had no wives . Considered a genius at twenty, Was I a coward or was I brave ? In later years I was pardoned, Now I'm turning in my grave . A blue plaque in the city Of where I spent my youth, Condemned for who I was As they didn't like the truth. The irony lies in a fairytale, Alas that's my second crime, And if you enjoy your sleuthing Well, my name lies in this rhyme.

Fantastic! That was a tough one. A true enigma- which ended up being the key word for me (I admittedly missed it the first time). Then the rest fell into place. Very clever.

Many Thanks Robert , I thought enigma might give it away, but I didn't want to make it impossible to guess , as that would be unfair. So pleased you enjoyed it , and thanks for taking the time to comment , it's much appreciated Robert , Daniel

Hello Daniel, This captivating and thought-provoking poem invites readers to unravel the mysteries surrounding a complex figure. The layers of identity, from enigma to hero to misunderstood, are skillfully written into each stanza, leaving me intrigued until the end. Your use of irony and symbolism adds depth to the narrative. This is an enigmatic piece that engages the mind and stirs the imagination. I do know who it is. Good Luck! - Blessings, Daniel

Hello Daniel , and wow I truly wasn't expecting such a mind blowing comment , or indeed praise of any sort and for that I thank you from the bottom of my heart . I wanted to include Byron , and all the other 19th century figures but 5 verses is quite restrictive . I am so pleased you know who I am talking about because that means their life wasn't in vain and their memory however cryptic in this riddle lives on . Thank you . Blessings and may your God go with you . Daniel

Hi Sara, i have added a final verse this morning which may help , or it may not , an added clue but cryptic . Byron's love for lace is where it all began , an age when bab was creator of what we're doing now . Hope that helps , smiley face , evil laugh . Danny .

I loved the information and the rhyme scheme, but am unable to determine for whom the poem was written. Stumped!
