Return To Me
Come back with me to youth's summer retreat,
back to the lush path you and I did first meet -
where songs of nature oust life's cruel deceit.
Many miles from today's dark-walled concrete
built from bitterness and our acts of deceit.
Return to me and young love's time of sweet
memories, when our days felt complete,
and nights we slept 'neath a star-studded sheet
then woke to the sway of blushed blooms petite,
Queen Anne's Lace and Daisies, dawn's playful treat.
Break from anger's grasp and let us repeat
a time when earth's soil laid green at our feet.
Love, hope and joy lived in every heartbeat,
and lost souls were found with a first kiss, discreet.
Come back to me, to our summer retreat,
down yesterday's path where young lovers did meet.
