Rescue Me
The hair falls on my face
And rescues me.
People around,
Don’t look at me,
Don’t think about me,
Don’t tell me I am beautiful,
Don’t tell me I have seen the light,
Don’t think I am leaving,
Don’t count the invisible wrinkles,
Don’t reminisce with me,
Don’t tell me you knew the little girl.
Sweet little girl, don’t grow up,
Don’t jump off the swing,
Don’t wish to please yourself,
Don’t wear out the last new dress he gave,
Don’t realize how to laugh,
Don’t lose your mask,
Don’t forget his voice,
Don’t try to hold on.
Her hair falls on my face,
And rescues me.
