Lightening struck a huge oak tree in our family garden in Brakpan - it was 30 metres tall and split down the middle. We had to have it chopped down. A beautiful Haiku you wrote my friend hugs Jennifer

Jennifer, This tree was in an open field so no danger of anyone getting hurt. The lightning ripped all the bark off on one side. Now, the limbs are falling off, all the bark is gone, etc. When that lightning hit, it could be heard for a mile around. Thanks for the nice review of my work. Sara

I bet that was scary! I was driving on a backroad, couple years ago, and saw turkey buzzards all over the road. Had never seen one before. It was crazy too! Big hugs, dear lady!

Kim, Yes, they can find the carrion for sure. The other day I was outside, and I was seeing my shadow which was indicating it was just past noon then all of a sudden there was this shadow across my shadow. The outline was scary and rightfully so because it was a buzzard. Very strange that it would cross my shadow like that. Thanks for the kind review. Sara

Thank you, Lasaad. The tree dies, but the buzzards(vultures) live. I need the blessings. Sara

And then they respond with such majestic flight. Somehow it all works together. I have often walked the desert, thinking buzzards every bit as graceful as eagles. This is a fine, thoughtful write. Leading one to many images and in meditative directions. Excellent photo!

Joe, Yes, buzzards are beautiful when they soar searching for food or maybe just enjoying the uplifting currents. I find it somewhat humorous though when they find some roadkill and have eaten way too much and with great difficulty fly away or barely get away because they can't fly at that time. LOL...I appreciate your visit to my page. Sara

This is sad, and reminds me of my neighbor's tree which was struck by lightning right after the moved away. It was like a sad poem too, love your haiku Sara.

I'd say it's your best haiku that I've read on this site.

Yes, it does stink, Chris. It was a beautifully shaped tree. It could have been the shade for a herd of cows, and we know the outcome of that if it had been. Thanks for the visit, Sara

Anne-Lise, Buzzards mostly pick a dead or dying tree upon which to roost. I have no idea why though. If the tree isn't already dead, it will die probably because of what the buzzards eat. Your visits always inspire me. Sara
