Reflections
You, the bearer of forgiveness
In times where my acidic words
Spew from tangles of fear;
When I wait the longest nights
As far-flung work-hours tear me apart.
Beneath our old maple tree
Our faces silenced as hardened leaves;
Till you guide me past pained moments
Into deep roots of reflection
Calming my doubts as I relate
How abandoned this soul cries for lost hours.
And you listened, listened
To my psalms of discontent--
While into mirrors of twilight,
I slowly begin to understand
The worth of all your own torments.
