Rebirth

Rebirth Grey ghostly clarions Swiftly travel To the east of darkling day Riding on a dirge wind Blowing harsh Over waters that reflect The fading dawn When they turn to blood red, Glowing crimson, As they color the vast and swirling grey Trumpeting to the earth, With light retreating, The call of night Where black and twisting tree limbs Stretch Into the clarion sky To grasp at daylight fleeing While through their naked Leafless fingers Arias of monotones Rise up on whistling winds As unbelieving earth implores The gloom descending, With feeble lights, Be gone! Then wait beneath the clarion shadows Entombed in sleep – Still as death, chilled and numb – For the morning star to spread Like warm fingers Across the ghostly clarions Turning them into the daystar’s turquoise pearl, Telling lightless earth “Arise!” See life reborn in light!

"Turning them into the daystar’s turquoise pearl" - pure poetry. Love all your imagery and use of diminishing colors to describe the end of day. A beautiful arc towards the hope and anticipation of the final nine lines. Glorious!

Have spent many days in Utah and in the mountains - one of the prettiest mountain ranges in the US. You are blessed to be so close to the Wasatch and watch the mountains breath!

Sam, I love the way you describe the sunset as daylight fades to gray. What a blessing it is to wake up to a bright, new world each day. It's almost like a miracle. Your creative muse helped you choose a topic to which everyone can relate. Beautiful! Hugs, Carolyn

Daniel, thank you! Sometimes, for me, it is a simple event like a sunset and an impending storm in the winter that sparks a poem. Thank you for your kind words!
