Reasonable Force
REASONABLE FORCE
“I can’t breathe,” the prisoner pleads
But the officer’s knee stays on his neck.
So he can’t breathe but what the heck?
“I’ll use whatever force it needs.
Just don’t utter another word.”
A murmur of concern runs round the crowd.
Surely this is not allowed.
A gasp of disbelief but it’s not heard.
Still he pleads to take a breath
But he has to be restrained somehow.
And he can hardly whisper now.
The paramedic, with a sigh, registers the time of death.
