I grew up with fear The worst one being Losing my mom The one person who I knew Would love me No matter what Even if the stars All fell from the sky If night turned to day And day to night There would always be Assurance of her love If the sun stopped shining And the moon wouldn’t rise If everything good went away If I was only left with Worry and pain Still there would be Her love so enlightening Fear of losing her Haunted my thoughts Caused me to scream silently In nightmares that plague Horrid dreadful fears That would pursue me Throughout my life Only to guarantee me That unless I died young These fears would, one day be Realized

Regina, The fear we never lose, perhaps. Even when we leave from home as young adults. Every time they left and we waited as children. A great write realized. -Richard

Very interesting write, Regina, especially given your upbeat, uplifting, inspirational (norm) style. The ending kind of took my breath away. Mom is the toughest loss... Kudos, Gershon

Contracting in fears, until we transcend fears, by facing fears, within a fervent prayer in our heart and nonchalance in our eye! Moms are special, closest and dearest. Strangely, I didn’t have this fear, of losing her to death, until it actually happened and then it took several years for the pain in my heart to lessen. Beautifully penned, as always, Regina!

This too was a horrid underlying terror in my heart concerning my parents as well as other loved ones. Remembering that we do not mourn as those who have no hope through our faith in God does help. Both of my parents have now passed, but I have hope that one day we will meet again in the glorious light of heaven. May God bless and comfort your precious heart Gina <3

This is so amazing; I do not remember having this fear. Probably because when I was a child the only people I knew who died were much older than my mother. A terrific testimony that you are remain in communication withy your childhood self, and this is vastly important when writing poetry! Bravo!

What a wonderful tribute to your mother, even with your underlying theme of fear. Exceptional work. I lost my mother when I was 15 years old. I think of her everyday.

Sadly Gina it happens to us all, unless we die young of course. When I lost my mother it was a dreadful thing, but time has passed and wonderful memories she brings. Take care ~ Belle
