She loved him more than she could say
With a love that would never go away
She gave him her heart
Her kindness and warmth
Everything she gave him
She gave without thought
Of gain or reward
She gave generously
With hope that lifted up
Each time he whispered
I love you too
He took advantage of her kindness
Her inspiration, love and vision
Refusing to listen to love’s cry
He soon left her without any remorse
She was wrecked by his leaving
Ravaged with pain and sorrow, overwhelmed
By the thought that her love
Had been squandered on a heart
Who didn’t really care at all
It wasn’t long, though… until someone sought her
Bought her and taught her
That love was more than a mere kiss
It bid adieu to lovers and in all truth
Love that would last
Came alive from the assurance
That God is love
And His love is the best
His love is the love that captured her heart
And showed her that she could rise again
Like a phoenix from the ashes
She found her love
In the truth of Him
The One who gives without conditions
Fills the spirit with compassion
And gives hope, faith and love
That is forever, eternal
A promise of heaven above
God sends down His kindness
To those who listen for the voice
Of One who abides inside
Singing through the silence
Songs that break through darkness
Bring light that is a consuming fire
The Holy Spirit’s glow
Singing to our very soul
