Raspberry Bushes

Plain lucky we were Kids growing up in proximity To a raspberry garden 'Twas so short a season We never balked at spending Few hours of the day To fill some baskets And eat our fill along the way Mom was petrified of snakes Watch out! But we never saw any Only pesky wasps but we avoided the nest Besides it was better than Crouching for strawberries Or sharing blueberry fields With the occasional bear We lived in a land of abundance We sure loved our summers Up north in the land of plenty Where there was enough for everyone Hills bearing fruit Tree covered lands Fresh running waters AP: Honorable Mention 2020 Posted on March 19, 2018

This is adorable and takes me back to my first grade year spent in Massachusetts where I fought bumble bees to pick blueberries. They grew wild behind our house on post. LOVED the blueberries, not so much learning I was allergic to bees. Your poem flows so well and the feeling is nostalgic. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

A wonderful memory! I would come across wild blackberries alongside my driveway, as a kid, pick them and mix with sugar. Mmm mmm good! I miss that!
