Raindrops Spitting Fumes

the daily news droned on and on
as hope gave way to gloom
  every ray of sunshine doused
    by raindrops spitting fumes

  war and murder everywhere
    no part of earth untouched
I pulled my hood up over my head
    the burden was too much

Congratulations on POTD Gershon. This is why I seldom watch the news. I am still looking for the "good news" channel.

Quite a striking piece, Gershon. Quite a "rain of terror". POTD worthy with cosmic repercussions in clear relief.

"the daily news," is difficult to watch. A very interesting way to express what's happening all around us- "Raindrops Spitting Fumes". That's exactly what it feels like. Your thoughts touch my heart deeply. Congratulations Gershon, on Poem of the Day. My best to you. Hugs, Brandy

It’s a lot to take in Mr Wolf, more than we can handle, the burden that is, not your poetry, keep it coming! Congratulations on POTD, cheers David

Congratulations on POTD Gershon Wolf! Elequently said, I found it touching and sweet--[the description of the hood pulled over your head]. And the crescent moon's smile turned to a frown, while the stars shot out arrows piercing the ground. I like the crossword puzzles!

Yes it can feel that way sometimes … just too much . I can only take snippets of the news in small doses. Congratulations dear Gershon on POTD! Blessings, Susan :)

One need not listen all day. Gershon. So happy to see you have been honored with a POTD! Perfect! I know the poison channels and avoid them. But I also am aware I am a active participant in change. Civics did not end in 8th grade. I never want another crackpot leading to the Cruel murder of millions. Part of that was people…afraid to talk and tell the truth. Freedom is not a given. Panagiota xo

As we skim through the pages of a news paper or look into the TV screen, we are greeted with news of war, violence and natural calamities. Sometimes we feel like covering our face with a hood not to witness such horror. Congratulations Gershon on your POTD
