Rainbow Promise

Sometimes we make a promise we forget.
You said it but it simply slipped your mind
and then you tell someone of your regret
but they just aren't the forgiving kind.
So, what does this teach us about our life?
We should never make a promise we can’t keep
and that promises are often cause for strife,
a broken pledge to leave a heart to weep.
So, should we make these promises at all
if breaking them leads to disastrous end.
They are commitments that we must recall
or risk the chance of losing love and friend.
The promise on which most should still rely
comes from the Heavenly Father up above,
like a rainbow in the miracle of sky.
It is the promise of his devoted love.
