Rain CONTRA

I got up it was way past noon
Thought I’d go for a walk.
Then, it started to rain
I’m talking heavy rain
The rain that soaks you rain.

I saw my neighbour Mrs Pratt
She was out walking her little dog.
You’ve guessed, they were wet too
I’m talking really wet.
They were both dripping.

I said "hello" and she grunted a greeting
Not happy I thought, but it’s only rain.
Then a bus drove by and hit a big puddle,
And then Mrs Pratt screamed as the puddle
engulfed her.
Strange I thought, she is already wet.

But then I realised why she had screamed
the poor little dog was not moving.

I went to the pub and the barman said
“You look wet”
“Do I” I replied, " I just saw a dead dog".

Haha thanks Abdul, yeah, shame about the dog, it was the only way to tone it down a bit. Tom

Tom, this is HILARIOUS. Did your tongue break through your cheek writing it? … So side-splittingly understated. Best wishes for a winner in the contest. ~ Gershon

You certainly know how to get your point across, Tom..had fun reading your purposeful anti-poem. Are we talking heavy rain Tom? The rain that soaks you rain?? Are we talking really wet? Like really dripping wet?? Well done, Tom..true to contest theme.

Haha, glad you liked it Vijay, hope its what the sponsor wants. Tom. PS, yes its that wet rain, the rain that turns the air blue rain.
Date: 9/21/2018 12:48:00 PM
Tom, I enjoyed the redundancy of your poem, and I just want to tell you that I thoroughly delighted in all the repetition, but that would sound redundant. :-)

Glad you enjoyed my 'redundant' verse Carol, just a bit of fun really ,I was in that mood. Just wanted to reinforce the fact it was raining. As they say in Ireland, to be sure to be sure. Tom
Date: 9/21/2018 10:41:00 AM
lol I think you need one more repetitious stanza to get the wetness point across!! love your ending too but it may get you dinged for being too funny..enjoyed reading your rubbish :)
