There’s this whole wide world we shall never know—stars, birds, and skies, And stories told to children in unknown tongues in far off lands. We add our own to music no one hears in space where planets turn.

Dang. I can't believe this kind of thing happens. Three or four times it happened to me but that was over many years time. I eliminated at least 4 poems and placed 31. I am curious. What does your contest ares say? If it says N/A, that is really infuriating

So exquisitely articulated, dear Sara. Your Sijo provokes contemplation and is sentimental. Every individual is a scant particle with an exceedingly brief existence in the overall framework of time, space, and distance. It truly is sobering. Your poem is an evocative, poetic prodigy. Well done

ahh, you're most kind Sotto with your remarks and feedback. I agree, I sometimes forget that I'm a scant particle, only briefly existing in the time/space continuum....whatever existence is... :-) Yes, it is sobering at times. thanks for the 'poetic prodigy' comment. That was thoughtful and sweet. Your poetess friend in Texas, Sara

Sara, your poem whispers starlight secrets - tales from galaxies unseen, where lullabies echo in tongues unheard. In realms beyond our reach, we spin our own soundtracks, silent symphonies for planets on their lonely paths. A breathtaking glimpse into the universe of imagination, where stories dance among the stars. Wonderful Poem and loved to imagine!! - Blessings, Daniel

Indeed, so true, dear Sara, and so beautifully expressed. Your Sijo is tender and thought-provoking. Each of us are but mere short-lived specks in the grand scheme of things; time, space and distance. It's very humbling. Your poem is inspiring, soulful poetess. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

You pose so many points to ponder, Sara. Too often we tend to think only about our lives and fail to remember the world is large, and what lies beyond? We cannot fathom.

thanks for your wise and insightful words, Lin. I agree...we all tend to focus on our little corner of the world and forget the bigger picture...yes, I can't even begin to fathom. Thanks for stopping by, hugs, Sara

Must be life out there somewhere. Wonder why we always think they're little green aliens.

you ask a great question, Paul....perhaps life is out there or perhaps it's the remnants of humanity's music stumbling through the universe????

Makes you realise that we are mere grains of sand in the whole wide universe. That said we all play even a small part. Good luck in the contest Sara. Tom

The quiet of space is a scary prospect. I think I will embrace earthly gravity, and enjoy the sound of Elton John’s “Rocket Man”
