I shed the shackles of societal scrutiny
Dared to color the Pumpkin purple
Finding that one must weigh such actions
On the scale of consequences
Developed a “cloak of invisibility”
Muted and masked my reality
Sharpened the spearhead of a N0. 2 pencil
Mounted up, lowered my shield, and fled
Leaving a trail of “double entendre”
A myriad of menacing metaphor
The howl of “Limerickian” lunacy
A sonorous tone of truth
Yet still I bear the shackle scars
Soft fears that linger in a being
Longing to dull my stinging spearhead
Erase the Pumpkin's purple smile
