her expectations
did not tally to the scene
ill placed trust in words
free fall imminent
why does she remain so still
she must save herself
but the fall goes on
she does not crash to the ground
never ending fall
all the fear, swirling
it loops around and around
this is just the way
promises given
she knows about promises
that they hurt the most
but she falls for them
it's conditioning maybe
she falls and she falls
and the new hurt swirls
it mixes with all the rest
falling and unsaved
she rested briefly
oh the lure of the promise!
to take away pain
to trust feels so good, until...
