Prey - Pray

Many men fallen, Carcass, the vultures calling Survival twisted Even in blizzards Spot the circling buzzards spy; Carrion cleaners Birds of prey, pray swoop Deceased unaware souls lost Carried on the winds. Tribute to Leon Stacey's " Casualties of War "

I can only sigh and shake my head from side to side. Sad, but so true. Death due to war. Excellent write, James. (I'm going to the next one...expecting a history lesson. Smiling.) Lovingly, Dane

Vivid images of the birds circling and swooping upon the war's dead, James. Sadly, this is the fate that awaits many brave ones. Very thought-provoking, dark poetry. Love, Carolyn
