Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition

That used to be our battle cry, still is with many
Back when this country used to be free
Salute the flag, prayers in school were alight
It was not child abuse, if you got licks on your fanny
The old ones our age don't like what we see
Wonder what it will take to make it right

Cannot have The Ten Commandments on the courthouse wall
Isn't laws are what courthouse are all about
I wonder who" s laws no days, God or man's?
Some say if you believe in God, you are a fanatic, don't that beat all
Makes you want to pull your hair out and shout
What happened to us proud Americans?

Water down the military, so we can win a war
Beg for a bullet, soldiers hands are tied
Being a patriot is no longer in season
Kind of hard to figure out that score
At night the mothers of the lost cried
I remember back when helping the enemy was treason

Time to stand up for what is our, not beg and crawl
Want to take away our guns, so we cannot fight
That wind is blowing in the wrong direction
What is the matter with you all
Being "politically correct" is not right
"PRAISE THE LORD AND PASS THE AMMUNITION"

Great saying and things that are being taken away are just increasing our lawlessness and disrespect. We are rearing generations of people who have no idea what is right. Judges in the "Bible" says it all in the last verse of that book. Read it. Keep the creative pen flowing. Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my work for it is greatly appreciated. Sara

Much for the reader to reflect on in this poem. Years of apathy have let others take over our America. It's good to see people standing up to the politicians and taking pride in being American. With God, we will come through this challenging time. Congratulations on having your poem featured. Keep on writing! Wishing you ongoing success. Karen

Interesting write, Danny, if our different beliefs, understood the central point(Love). And if our Government undertood the central point to our Bill of Rights and our Constitution, that it was based on love for fellow man. Perhaps things would turn out better. And ofcourse tough love, as you were speaking about. Sincerely Moses

It is a fine piece of writing Danny and how true. Our society is crippled with all kinds of fears that hide the real truth and our real identity. No one likes war and which it could disappear forever, but unfortunately, there are still terrorists and genociders out there. Can we let them continue their evil doing? As soon as I saw your email, I had to go read and comment on your poem. Great job. It is good to read your style of poetry again. Thanks for sharing, Caroline.
