Power

Too long since the time when they turned at my voice, and yielded their wills at the sight of my choice. I remember those days when I was alight, aflame with desire; ambition so bright! Back when all pistons were firing within, and my mind's smooth mechanics were running to win, oiled by the sweet and sickly taste, of laying all foes and their designs to waste. For a time I was lost, and turned instead, to romance and such things that tarnish one's head, believing in error that I would prefer, quietude, simplicity, and existence secure. But that is a tangent that shall not remain. Success shall be grasped, no matter the pain. Written 20 September 2017
