Porthole of Love

How can one describe this sensation?
I looked everywhere to find this emotion.
I fought daily against this turmoil.
This conflict of my conscious.
To stay safe and secure within,
I guarded my fragile spirit.
I concealed my desire.
i changed myself to become
what was seen.
I hid the depression, grief, and sorrow
deep within the entanglement of my life.
I could not declare my troubled soul,
for who could comprehend my anguish.
They could not see my heavy heart.
My distress was a facade only to me.
Through me, my confidant peered,
and saw the tenderness and passion,
buried deep inside.
There, a small porthole was opened
and my being was flooded
with the peaceful radiance
of being loved.
