POET’S LAMENT* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Under the night's blank canvas, I sit, a lone figure, my ink-stained fingers poised. I carry the burden of unsaid poetry, ideas that were never expressed, and metaphors that disappeared like echoes. I linger upon the rhymes that unraveled like threads pulled from an old sweater, frayed and forgotten, lost in the seams of time. I am lost in the fabric of language unable to stitch together an ensemble of cohesive words. In dawn’s quiet hours, I wait for inspiration, for the first light to break, to spill over into the edges of my thoughts. I sit, a solitary figure my weary mind suspended beneath the empty canvas of daylight. I sit, a solitary figure my weary mind suspended beneath the empty canvas of daylight *Note: Poem published at Poetry Soup, June 2025 (poetrysoup.com/poem/a_poets_lament_1747589) but later deleted. The commitment to writing, reading and commenting on poetry is to be admired my Sara. My 4 hours a day seems little compared to the 6-8 hours you dedicate to your craft. Heartfelt poetry shared about your journey. Blessings Sara. for sharing so much of your time with us. You're loving husband, Bill

Dearest Sara, I love this poem! It is filled with amazing poetic images and word pictures that perfectly describe the poet in the ambivalent midnight of writer's block! What a wonderful metaphor. Sending you blessings of clarity and peace!

It all came together in a patched quilt or an embroidery piece well stitched. Thanks for sharing this one which speaks of how we all feel from time to time when our muse seems to have gone on vacation and did not ask us to come along. Sara K

Excellent poetry, though lack of words and ideas doesn't appear to be your problem, nor Bill's. You two are quite prolific. I only put out about four per month. Inspiration doesn't strike me daily, but neither do I feel compelled to write

thanks for your kind words, Tom. Hubby and I enjoy words and sometimes write poems aloud while riding in the car...we're perhaps certifiably crazy right now. I love to write...been doing it since I was a teenager. What else can I say. Anyway, appreciate your visit, blessings, Sara

Wow that is a huge chunk of time. I've been studying the Bible over forty years now. Still so much to learn and apply

We spend 4-8 hours a day writing, reading and commenting of poetry, Tom. We're retired and this is our thing. LOL I plan to cut back my poetry time to do more deep Bible studying next month. My time here on earth may be nearing and I want to be as prepared as I can. Bill
