I left my poems with lovers I knew And felt the pain each time love's end begun Spilled ink on pages when our love was through Of a sad farewell when our love was done I wrote love poems on their softest palms Of warm hungry kisses and a poet's word A gift to keep where memories are kept Silenced by the years they are never heard Lost in yesterday's sands with tears we wept Found to be nothing more than beggar's alms 4/26/19 contest writing challenge-2 April 2019 It's all about 10 sponsor Dear Heart theme...Poet's Lament
