Poetry Contest

I entered in a poetry contest and I really don’t know why My poetry does not need to win a prize It comes deep down within me and I really don’t need to win Poetry from long ago had no ABC or Rhyme to win It was written as a melody which gave people harmony There were not subjects from which to choose And others never judged who Would win or lose Now people go to school to learn how to write a poem They are graded by their writing and have complicated the art of poetry For poetry is not a subject for it is placed upon our hearts It comes from your deepest thought’s and dreams There is no school that I know That can teach you how to dream
