Poetry-Soup Land

We the people of ‘Poetry Soup’ land, Stand united, supportive yet very sad, For we stand for peace love and no hate, And cannot withstand, Or understand, We ask, Why innocent people have to suffer and die. God in heaven will one day reply, We lend you our hearts and often cry, And together with you heave a great sigh, Whoever you are, we are an ally, To humanitarian deeds we only comply, And to worldwide rulers who have gone awry, We Ask, Why innocent people have to suffer and die. Poetry Soup compared to any other land, Are a much smaller band, Our poems from our souls we supply, Have no magic answer, wipe a tear from our eye, We Ask, Why innocent people have to suffer and die. We pray that all refuges finally find peace, And the bad must know, they are on short lease, Their doings are insane, Why in God’s name, Are the infamous seeking power and fame, We Ask, Why innocent people have to suffer and die

Love this Mev Jen Write about it as you have in order to hopefully shine a light on the plight of the injustice of the world The Why Why if only we could understand But then again why would we want to make sense of the seemingly senseless

Jennifer it’s hard to understand how anyone could be so hateful, cruel and evil to people and destructive to homes and beautiful buildings. Your poem says it all, well done… Belle

Yes, absolutely right! I always think of people who are powerless against the wrongs and are unable to find justice because of numerous reasons like corruption, politicians, castes, class and religion that we forget the fact that we are one and unique in different ways, and that we are humans! Humanity have been lost this days. The world is huge and we can't change everyone's mindset but we should always try our best! A great pen...!!

Jennifer, your compassion is never more evident than when you write of those who are suffering. We may never know the answer to why people suffer, but we can use the weapon of words to fight back against injustice, greed, hatred, aggression, and abuse of power. Well said, sister. Easter blessings to you and yours ~ John

Beautiful statement of how we feel here at poetry soup. Jennifer. Thank you for expressing our sentiments so well through your poetry. Why do those that have so much, always seem to want more and more. It seems crazy to me, whether a person, a country, or a group of people in any organization. There is a thing called, enough is enough. Smiles ~ Blessings, Your poet friend, Bill

I agree why do the innocent have to get hurt or die. There is no good answer. I enjoyed your heartfelt work. Thanks for your visits to my page. Sara

I believe that most wars are fought because of a disagreement between two powerful people. Sometimes a powerful man may want the riches of another and instead of befriending his neighbor he tries to take what is his. It's just plain wrong. Good Write Jennifer, God Bless and a Happy Easter to you and yours. JB

You speak for many of us, Jenny. War brings death and suffering. Hands drip with the blood of innocents. What causes a leader's mind to act this way!! How could one throw away love and peace in favor of hate and war! Let's hope common sense will prevail soon. ~ Warm regards and hugs, my friend. // paul

How did I miss this treasure Jennifer! You ask the most quintessential question of life - "Why do innocent people have to suffer and die?" And you do this in a fluid and lyrical rhythm with creative rhymes. Love the phrase "The bad must know, they are on a short lease." I know these are the musings of your compassionate heart dear friend. Thank you for the guided tour into your compassion and your faith. Sending you Palm Sunday blessings!

Beautifully penned Jennifer, you indeed paint an honest picture of the world in general, unfortunately it is the innocent who suffer and die, has always been this way from our earliest civilisations up to present day, some describe it as evil others say pathological, I have an inkling our very own DNA has atavistic remnants of early animalistic behaviour, and when mixed with our evolving intelligence creates these terrible monsters living amongst us, I appreciate so much your visit cheers David

"Why innocent people have to suffer and die''....... This is a question I often ask myself for which I have so far got no answer. Now in the context of the war, you ask the same for all of us.... ! Indeed we are one entity and the issues that shake humanity shake us too and as poets we feel them more intensely ! We can only hope and pray that this war will soon end and peace will be restored. I love and respect your compassionate mind, Jenny and this soulful writing

I love how you gave a pattern to this one with the repeating last line. I think that makes many poems more effective. Great message, dear!!

A good question you ask in your poem.Man seems to learn nothing from the past. Greed and power seems to grow while not caring if people die. Never thought I would see this kind of division in the world. Blessings. love phyl

It is rather scary on our planet at the moment, and a ruler that is so dictatorial, cunning and evil could very well push the red button to commence WW111. I hate to even say this, But I never thought that Putin would invade Ukraine, yet he did, he cares not what happens to any country, even his own Russian people who are not allowed to use the word War. Thank you for visiting and your informative comment. Kind regards, Jennifer.

Your question is truly valid. We the human race, have learn nothing from our violent history, only adding to it, Jennifer.

Hi Harry, thank-you for your vist and so apt answer, violent history is the correct terminology repeating itself in the 20th century - man has learnt nothing throughout the ages and his need for greed just grows, whatever the cost. However, if things, God forbid escalate, millions will die all over the world. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer
