Played the Safe Notes In My Lone Retreat

Played The Safe Notes In My Lone Retreat That fear was always darkness in disguise A high cliff, a frail rope and my hanging. Inspired hope not enough, word to the wise Fear is darkness and roaring loud banging. I played the safe notes in my lone retreat Seeking warm meals to soothe my tepid soul. Just barely enough sweet dessert to eat, With that coward's safety as my main goal! That fear was always darkness in disguise My life was safe in it being so wild. Living just one lousy day the grand prize Safe comfort sadly sought like a small child! Pray tell? Why show this discovery now? Fear now defeated but I know not how. I fought it every damn day, fought people too. Yet fate said no, you'll not get your wish to die young. You will grow old and face that reality as well.. Ah, now I see-- world says we strike the last blow!

Another deep reflective write, Robert. You write of this subject splendidly through your sonnets, and we are the better for it. Thank you, and God bless you more. Kim

Hi Robert, another excellent write from your pen. Always write from the heart, letting it sing in whatever mood it does find itself. It's strange that when you read a peace where a poet looks at their past, you do the same. I did that here Robert. We all have a past. You look back on your past and think of your journey to the present, the journey may have been hard but you are the man you always wished to be. Your heart has spoken its memories, keep it in your style. A 7 for the reality....Vlad

You dug deeply into yourself for this one, Robert. What counts is the here and now. I want to tell you that the note you wrote is quite the glimpse into your past, and in itself is poetic. Thank you for sharing this part of your past.. but leave it there. I like the Robert of the present.
