Pieces of Our Heart

Pieces of our heart were broken on October 31st. Not candyland, played - no rainbows or kittens. Jack o lanterns put out. Seeds had been scooped out. It was a cold day. It was Halloween’s early hours. This is not a ghost tale but true. Blood poured out. Wrists cut. Lives changed. Tears exchanged. Brave, he had been. Most likely pandemic sealed his fate. No outlet to outrun. No escape. Pieces of our heart - sweet sweet Pete.

Sigh, this write made me so emotional..reading this with teary eyes, gosh.. Nothing can ever compare to the grief of losing a loved one.. And those poignant emotions keep pulling our heartstrings, as pain never fades away, it keeps burgeoning over time and hurts even more. This is truly a beautiful tribute poem and I can empathise with you, dear Kim. I'm so sorry for this loss.. I hope that his heavenly soul rests in peace. Sending my prayers for you and your family.. Hugs..

Such a touching, heartfelt poem dear Kim. I’ve just read the comments- so, so sorry to learn who this was written for and so lovingly remembered on this poignant day for you and all your loved ones. So, so sad with fragmented hearts left behind. I too , had a second anniversary on Saturday of losing my darling, beloved father of whom I grieve for every day with a broken heart so I can empathise with you. Losing someone so young though must be truly devastating for all involved. Sending hugs xx

I'm so so deeply sorry for your loss Kim. The anniversary of the death of a loved one is extremely hard and especially of it was such an abrupt unexpected loss like what you described so well here. God bless you and your family and I pray that in time the pain you are all feeling will lessen and be filled with loving memories of you're sweet Pete.

Thinking of Mathew Perry and what Friends of 10 years are suffering. 54 seems youthful to me now but I just have to remember it's not that far behind. He was also my friend. He was all of our friend.

I know what you mean. I first saw it online and I kept saying over and over again..what?! What?! My husband doesn’t understand how someone we didn’t know personally we grieve over but I say we grieve because we all live in this lifetime together..we are human. Some feel deeply. I do. God bless you.

Kim, your poem is a powerful and moving tribute to your friend Pete. It is beautifully written and deeply heartfelt, and I am particularly impressed by the way you use language to capture the raw emotion of your grief. Your poem is a powerful reminder of the devastating impact of suicide and the importance of reaching out for help if someone you know is struggling. - Blessings, Daniel
