Pie and Ice-Cream in Two Acts

"Look what they've done to my song, Ma" ~ Melanie Saftka

Act I – Pie (One bright morning)

my muse just wants pie
I huffed, “Okay, give it a try.”
Pies begin with precision,
lovely decision.
I crave a treat, a sweet delight
one that brings a smile and makes my morning bright.
The popular apple and blackberry pie
Ah, just the thought makes me sigh.

Act 2 II – Ice-cream (Two hours later, on a yummy Sundae afternoon)

what fancy leads me on to dream
of sugar plums in frozen cream
I drool o'er yummy ice cream on my tongue
Thoughts of the tasty dish makes me so long
Betwixt lucky lips my eager tongue licks
A mouth watering afternoon dish fix
With a chuckle, he swore,
"I’ll just eat one more”.

So cute. And I see you included Caycay as one of your muses, same as I did. Congratulations. I can't believe only three of us Soupers participated.

Joke is on me! You must have spent a long time on this to come up with and find such perfect lines! Bravo! All three entries deserve recognition... thank you for your support of this contest!! Xoxo

Hi Crystol, I found out that lots of people have similar feelings about pie and ice-cream, but while it did take longer than most of my poems, but it was a lot of fun reading other people's poems.

I don't know where to begin but I do know I didn't want it to end. Such a delight, what are the words in your delicious masterpiece - "brings a smile and makes my morning bright.' I love, 'Gershon on the drums'. You got your witty on, my friend and we all get to enjoy it. I've no choice but to put this in my favs so I can take it out when I wish for another taste. Soooo good. So blessed am I to be the 1st line, I got this party started. Naw, twas your creative imagination. Poetry hugs CayCay

You did start this party! When I read was your third line (and which I put as my first), I suddenly knew my direction. It was as if you were reading my mail - my mind just wants pie - bingo!

Thanks Gershon. It seems like a lot of us are on the same page when it comes to cake and ice-cream. Strange thing - I don't exactly know what a sugar plum is- lol.

Uncanny how you remembered such an oculus 2nd line from almost a year ago. Smashing, compilation and all completely in context. Brilliantly done. All the best in the contest. Terry

Thanks Terry! "Okay, give it a try" from your Glug seemed to be the right words for me talking to myself.

I liked your lines from "Pie" and thought they fit in pretty well. I also like your line "nut filled pastry chasm", it's very descriptive and makes me salivate - lol!
