Picture of a City

Subways move beneath the ground and their passengers sit in that strange public place awaiting their stops Beneath the busy streets life rolls on On the sidewalks young men and women yearn for love Cats prowl in alleyways A policeman casts a watchful eye on young men beneath an awning Auto lights are reflected in the shattered glass on the road and sidewalks Darkness has wrapped itself around the city Streetlights cast their beams and cut the darkness of a place untold millions call home

You managed to nicely capture the innocence in this poem, creating the ambiance of the moment well. Emile. #7

very nice, Matt (and I left you message about Kentucky at my haiku). This for me is like your free verse style. Blank verse is when you use iambic pentameter on each line, I think. I will be home Saturday, really late, we are flying out on the fourth , to save money on the expensive flights.
