Right, Line. It was frozen so that he/she could not get a sip. Thanks for the visit. Sara

A well written haiku, Sara ! I can visualize the scene so clearly. The bird after appeasing its thirst, flying away !

Valsa, Sometimes in nature things don't work out like we think. Sad to say that bird did not get any water because of the ice. I went out after he/she was there and poured two cups of hot water so the ice would melt. I did not see the phoebe come back but of course; I did not stand there all the time. Your visits are always appreciated. Sara
