Notes About The Poem

Petrichor Petals

Petrichor petals
float with departing zephyrs,
misplacing misunderstood messages,
whose true meanings are misinterpreted.

Mislaid memories
reflect on picture perfect puddles,
mentally memorising mistakes,
leaving behind a legacy of regret.

Painful passages
monopolise melancholic mind,
bittersweet swansong symphonies,
seduce soulful spirit into a sabbatical.

Pessimistic penitence
engraves on blank expression,
depicting disease, drifting to death,
nauseating numbness perpetually laments.

It's sad when one takes a sabbatical due to painful memories. One can only hope that friends are able to make a difference. I did like the use of alliteration here and the amazing title. Thanks for your visit.

Silent One, your alliteration is amazing in this deep, soulful melancholy you've so beautifully expressed. Every line is scintillating with gems of imagery and emotion. All your stanzas are gorgeous but I think your second stanza is so breathtaking in its richness and texture. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan
