Perplexity of the Mind
I wonder why the mind is often diverted
When its thoughts are sweet and kind,
Sometimes before they hardly get started
Bitter, angry thoughts will come to mind,
And shuttle aside those hints of positivity
My rosy plans of what may be yet to come,
Replacing them with some gross negativity
Without so much as an inviting welcome.
Twisted ideas, the source I’ve no clear idea,
Wrapped in callous biases and prejudices, so
I immediately consider the broadcast media,
Looking for something to blame, even though
The mind is such an intricate complexity
Will I ever evade, or escape, this perplexity?
