Perplexity of the Mind

I wonder why the mind is often diverted When its thoughts are sweet and kind, Sometimes before they hardly get started Bitter, angry thoughts will come to mind, And shuttle aside those hints of positivity My rosy plans of what may be yet to come, Replacing them with some gross negativity Without so much as an inviting welcome. Twisted ideas, the source I’ve no clear idea, Wrapped in callous biases and prejudices, so I immediately consider the broadcast media, Looking for something to blame, even though The mind is such an intricate complexity Will I ever evade, or escape, this perplexity?

This perplexity is something I do not need, so I do not listen to the "news" any more.

Oh, I gave up the news long ago. I found it very beneficial to my creative productivity, and it cleared my mind of all the current "sound and fury signifying nothing."

Some minds are so perplexed that it's a waste of time to try and figure out why they are so callous and negative.

So long as the evil one is gaining strength, we are bound to get perplexed. We pray so little these days.
