Perfunctory

Perfunctory good will It's a thing I'm not sure if I'm Empathic by nature Or necessity But a couple of times Recently I've done good things In a perfunctory way I don't like it Preferably I jump into Everything With both feet I do ponder the wider question Of why do we do good things And I like the answer 'Because we want to' But who is better The person who always does good Because the good is done Regardless of their emotional attachment Or those that do good when the mood strikes I think the answer is, this isn't a comparison exercise Perfunctory thought processes Are less poetic
