Paying It Forward
He wanted a word so I gave him a sentence.
She wanted a spoon, so I gave her a ladle.
They wanted to get married, so I found them a preacher.
I am one of those “I-can-do-everything” gals.
She asked for a can of peas, so I took her a pallet.
He said he could use a piece of paper, so I threw him a notebook.
They wanted to get divorced, so I helped find them a lawyer.
I am one of those “of-course-I-can” gals.
She asked for a pencil, so I gave her a pencil case full of them.
He said he had never painted a picture, so I gave him canvas and paints.
They wanted a baby, so I gave them mine.
She was colicky, and they did not keep her long
But this gave me a bit of a nap.
