Pay Day

I often wonder,
just how much one is expected take.
Some spout off,
so very easily.
Some take much,
then they explode.
I guess the question is,
how much is too much.
How long should one put up with it,
what ever it is.
After not being paid repeatedly,
and getting paid would take up to six months.
I guess you can say,
I had~had enough.
Every time I explained I had not been paid,
no one seemed to care.
This is not right,
I was working for free.
My computer and I had a hot midnight date,
typing away to say just what I wanted to say.
I said I had enough~rather than stoop to their level,
I was just leaving~Good-bye from me.

There's never an excuse, good enough, to not pay for work done. You obviously reached your limit and made a good decision. Much to learn from your poem, Paula.

Hello Paula ... I can sense your frustration in this verse. Obviously the limit had been reached so the dues were paid - thank you Paula - Lindsay

If one cannot better who we are, detach from them. The "hot midnight date" line had me laughing! All of this, very well said!

Life is too short to sweat small stuff and people who don't treat you with respect are SMALL stuff. If we are talking money here take them to small claims court. If it's a small loan chalk it up to a bad decision. I never lend more than I can afford to lose because there is always a good chance that person can't pay me back.I always told my kids to remember: A favor given is a gift that you gave. A favor received is a debt to be paid. Good write my friend. God Bless, JB
