WRITTEN FOR AND POSTED WITH THE PERMISSION OF LAURA LOO WHO RECENTLY LOST HER CHERISHED DOG BO
I know the day has finally arrived and that soon we are going to lose you forever. I drive the car so so slowly as I take you to the vets. I just want to hold on to you for a few more precious minutes before we part. Weeping silent tears I bury my head in your soft fur and look into those sweet brown eyes for the final time.
Such a loyal pet Your paws wrap around my heart* Goodbye my sweet friend
*This line is used with very kind permission of Ed Ebbs – it was in a soup mail we exchanged and I thought it would be perfect for my poem. (the actual line was your paws are wrapped around my heart)

Thanks Freddie I knew Laura Loo was going through an emotional time having to have her beloved Bo put to sleep and when Ed and I exchanged a soup mail and he mentioned his own elderly dog I had to use the line from his mail and build a poem around it:-) hugs Jan xx

Thanks Alexis. I had been mailing Ed as I noticed he wasn't active on the site and the line he used about his own elderly pet was perfect for what LuLoo was going through.Sadly I think many can relate to the poem with the loss of their own pets:-( hugs Jan xx

Unfortunately I think many pet owners will be able to relate to this sad poem Darren - I was inspired by the line Ed sent me about his own elderly dog and asked his permission to use it in a poem - the timing was perfect for LuLoo's sad situation:-( hugs Jan xx

Your poem is beautiful and I'm truly sorry for Laura's loss. It's shuddersome to ponder when we might lose our girl, Shelby is struggling and she is down to 170 lbs down from 200 lbs...she is an English Mastiff.

Gosh Ed Shelby must be enormous - I'm about 120 lbs lol - I can just imagine what its like when she lies on your lap. I think there are many who can relate to the poem - it must be heartbreaking to take your beloved pet on their final journey - makes me well up thinking about it and I'm not a pet owner:-( thanks again for inspiring this poem:-) hugs jan xx

oh Jan...(weep weep weep)... this is exactly what happened. The whole car ride there I held onto his whole 140 lb body like a big stuffed teddy bear. I had no tears yet at that point. It wasn't until my ear heard his final heart beat is when I lost it. It was so hard to see him there, lifeless knowing I would never be able to hold my Bo bear again. I kept telling him "Karen's waiting for you, my sweet boy."...thanks Jan for the lovely tribute...

they had to give him 4x the amount of meds to put him to sleep because he kept fighting it. 3 times he lifted his frail head and kissed Nick and I on our faces. He even wagged his tired tail. It was like he knew it would be the last time he saw us and wanted to thank us for taking him into our family when Karen left him alone. He wanted to know he loved us with those kisses..it was the craziest thing! The vet said she never saw a dog so strong against fighting the meds and she cried when she saw Bo give us all those goodbye kisses... My heart will hold onto those memories forever Jan... :(
