Paulette - 1

After a breathtaking day, watching skaters perform on ice; Returning to the bus station on a cold, dark, January night, Paulette, happily reflects on a day she will not forget. Awaiting her parents arrival, under the empirical clock, A seedy man swaggers toward her, His crooked nose tilted on his face, His clenched fist opens, offering candy, feigning kindness, "Take it, Take it, come with me"... The hands of the clock stopped, with the pounding Of Paulette's 10 year old heart. For: "Paulette - 1" Poetry Contest Date: 11/18/21 Sponsor: Julia Ward

Such tricks are being played commonly now a days to hoodwink children. Parents should warn them of such possible ploys. An interesting and at the same time serious write, Paulette .

Paulette, Is this a true story? This is certainly a parents worst nightmare. You told the story beautifully. Good luck in the contest ~ Debbie

These words have such visceral impact. I cringe to think that 10-year-old Paulette actually had this experience, but I know the reality is that many people do go this kind of trauma. Well written and so powerful, I wish you the best in the contest. Hugs ~ John.

Is this a bio? Oh my, sweet poet. Sometimes the cold takes when we are all to distracted by a warm moment. Regardless ~ hugs
