Parenting
As yesterday we were,
tomorrow you may become.
For yesterday,
while too young to care for ourselves,
you cared for us.
Today as you are aging
and unable to care for yourselves,
we will care for you.
In childhood,
you punished us not
when you were wrought,
or spoke in angered tones.
Today we give in return
that love and respect,
that you, our parents deserve.
The sacrifices made for us
in life as we grew up,
should not be forgotten
as your lives wind down.
Life consists of many changes.
Parents abuse not a child,
for in the end, God, may will
that the child become the parent,
and the parent the child.
