Captivating with its coat of deepest black Vibrant in a way that only the wild creates This creature leaves only its deep track To show the fullness of its heavy weights Like a shadow, lying soft along the crests The graceful touch of its form is majestic Breathing life into the music that suggests Its lair holds the bones of some domestic Whispers of mystery echo through the leaves Traipsing across tree limbs toward nightfall Where only wild he’s dined on truly grieves For the loss reflected in droplets of rainfall Panther Poetry Contest Sponsor: Julia Ward October 5, 2020

Gina, I love this! very nice! There is nothing so beautiful as the leopard and nothing so deadly. I saw one in the wild in Africa and it was just magnificent!!! All the best in the contest!!

Very well written, Gina. You are right - the most majestic of all the cats. // Barry

Those 'whispers of mystery' certainly capture the mien of this creature. Lovely penned, Gina! Kudos, Gershon

Your poem brings alive the attributes of a panther, Gina. I see him roaming in your words through the wild--mysterious like a shadow as you put it. Well done my friend. All the best.
