Out of Sight
Those boxes in the attic
Just a reminder of all the loose ends
The ones you try to avoid
Heart of gold
Always thinking of others
Always out to help and to give
Keeping so very busy
Mechanically
Subconsciously
Cluttering your mind
Conveniently avoiding
Dealing with
Those devastating news
Conveniently looking outward
At everyone else
Rather than within
Where there’s pain
And mostly fear
Not so deep inside
Understandably
Numbing it
Keeping so busy
No end in sight
Applying a band-aid
Forgetting
Time waits for no one
And the end is near
Deal with everything in your attic
So little time to tie loose ends
Less than you think
