A Collaboration
Broken Wings and Laura Loo
In my garden I heard a fluttering,
and with tiny chirps a little bird was muttering.
It was the smallest, sweetest bird I ever saw !
Hummer then took a bath as I watched in awe,
his wings beat so fast with no stuttering.
then Hummer stuck his long needle bill in my Bourgeous !
Spinning fast my glittering friend feeds on flower nectar-
Oh, I would love to be a hummingbird collector !
What a feisty, little dynamo- so sheen !
Hummer has plumage iridescent and serene,
I call him my flower garden inspector-
I put out a sugar feeder and the next day I had fourteen !
They were pure grace and innocence combined-
such a rarity of hummingbirds so hard to find!
Gentle with a kaleidoscope of colors bright,
crystalline to medallion; what a gorgeous sight.
All mixed like the rainbow of an artisan’s mind,
making all the worries of my day alright.
Hummer still lives outside my gazebo’s vine,
sometimes inviting friends over to sugar dine-
If only he knew how special is to nature’s best,
exquisite and astonishing, I have confessed.
Magnificent and breathtaking; hummingbirds divine-
I will admit with this beauty I have been blessed!
