Orlando
we left
without thinking
of the end
and after awhile
forgot where we
began
in between
there was a moment
and a moment
and a moment
it went on like that
until time collapsed
into pearls of
water
falling from the
stone roof
of heaven
finding their way
to your
third eye
and by surprise
(as if there were
anything but surprise)
it became apparent
that our birthright
was delight
that surrendering
was not giving up
or giving in
but giving away
everything that
keeps us apart
that renders us
impotent
full of fear
full of wounds
inflicted from the
barrel
of each other’s
discontent
we arrived
without thinking
that we used to be
friends
and after awhile
forgot where we
began
in between
there was a moment
and a moment
and a moment
that we could not
grasp
until time collapsed
into balls of
steel
racing from the
stone walls
of hell
into your third eye
and by surprise
(as if there shouldn’t
be surprise)
we came to believe
that our birthright
was fright
that surrendering
was giving up
giving in
embracing everything
that keeps us apart
we left
without thinking
how it would
end
because after a while
we forgot
how it began.
