My daughter told of the disaster she witnessed of a mama possum being killed by a car and the little possums running all over the road. She was driving a school bus and was not allowed to stop to help. Great haiku. Love, Joyce

I hate to think of anything's babies being orphaned. Even a possum. They are pretty low on the totum pole of likable animals in the south. There are lots of possum jokes. Charles

The poor opposum I hope such occurences don't occur too frequently. Do you have opposums where you live? I live in Manhattan and there are non here - my friend in Brooklyn said he saw one about a year ago. Thanks for choosing my poem in your contest! Is there a certificate or is it just glory? Let me know and keep 'em coming! Yours Matthew Anish

Excellent entry, John...Amazing how even the animals instinctively know about LOVE and caring and some of us refuse to see this..blind to the truth that Love is the only key to open the doors of the grace we need to enter our future! Shame that with all our intellect we fail to grasp that... Have a great weekend, John. God bless. Peace, love, Audrey

Wow! I didn't know that, John. I guess nature finds ways of protecting the babies. (There are lots of possums in Florida!) Very unique approach to the sanctuary theme and I predict it will score high in Chris's contest! Love, Carolyn
