Opening a Word Book

When I open a word book I am amazed. There are zillions of words I have never heard. I make lists of them, determined to use a few. But more often I fall back on my regular words. My abilities as a word player have nothing to do with the quantity of my known words. For I am a failure in that department yet I do okay.

Your vocabulary is probably much, much richer than you realize, Caren. Most of us use the same words over and over, particularly in speaking. I find myself doing it in writing, too. But I try to diversify!

My word is "VERY" which I use all too frequently and which adds nothing to a line. It is SO VERY easy to throw in to make the line longer. Oh, my......

I almost always throw the word SO into a poem; I am so sick of SO, and yet it is SO easy to use, SO there.
