Open Your Eyes
my world became a silent void
of nothingness and I wandered
lost and frightened
then, through the silence
came the beating of a drum
and I followed the sound into the labyrinth
corridors of my mind
running down twisted endless passages
till I was in a misty place of many stones
and my hair was full of shadows and tears
and I could hear the dead whispering
and then ...
a doctor with piercing aqua blue eyes
blue like the fathomless sea, said
open your eyes
and I did
