Oo - All In One Stinking Week

It's not impossible that my house stink.
At times there festers garbage in a sack
behind a closet door, and once the sink
got clogged with who-knows-what; sent water back
up filthy and all black; I dished it out
scoop by nasty scoop into a pan.
That damn disposal broke. There was no doubt
my kitchen reeked, so I turned on a fan
and dropped some baking soda in the drain
(I'd heard it stopped most odors), but the worst
came next: a stench which I could not explain.
I searched my rooms. Six days my house was cursed
until I found it dead and hidden well -
a mouse I bet inhaled the kitchen's smell!

(true story but a little exaggerated!)

After I read to the end I realized that "OO" in the title must have stood for Offensive Odors, but I couldn't help but think "OO, who stepped in dog poop?" This one was both funny and sad; sad because it was a true story but funny how you ended it with the conclusion that the mouse died from the stink of the clogged drain! Very entertaining. You really DO write sonnets about every conceivable subject!

Had me laughing with this one. When we had that mouse in the house and it died in a vent I can tell you that smell was totally unpleasant. It is definitely offensive to the nose. ha ha . love phyl

Oohoo! Sounds like something that could happen to me. I wrote one once called Murphy's Law Strikes Again. Think I'll repost it for you and we can feel sorry for each other. God Bless and Merry Christmas, JB ;)

Just what is that awful smell? It's as if the fumes are coming straight from hell. That secret scent that hides so well. And then one day the air is as clear as a bell.

Andrea, I do not know how the little mouse may have died. i do know that after a few days a dead mouse stinks. Chef has 9 cats and they like moles and mice. once in a while they bring it in the house and do not tell anyone and do not eat it. Pretty stinky. if I reply to a comment does it go to you or do you have to read the poem again to see it. I sent one to you. HG told me that once anyone comments on a poem, you will not get another unless you win contest or featured read your older poems

LOL! This is really good, Andrea. I just read Carolyn's and I tell ya, if I were Susan I would have a tough time judging this contest! Yes, I know it's been a while, Andrea. Been much too busy... but have a little break so here I am ....for awhile. Hope all is well! Merry Christmas to you ! Love, Annalise

Oh wow, that write is quite hilarious Andrea! I really enjoyed the part where the mouse died, from the smell of the kitchen!! Yes, something similar happened to me...no dead mice but a definite stench throughout the house. I don't know anyone who likes that smell!! I really enjoyed your poem this afternoon, Awesome Work!!

LOL I've had similar experiences with that goop that clogs up sinks and tubs. "Nasty" is too mild a word to describe it. Got a great kick from your last line. Poor little mouse! Best wishes in Susan's contest. Witty work! Love and blessings for a merry Christmas, Carolyn
