Only 29

Had another birthday wow thats 29
You would think by now i would toe the line
Nope thats just impossible i love to jump and shout
Swing on the children's swings
When the park keepers not about

The slide still looks so inviting
Can remember on a previous trip
When coming down that blinking slide
Heard an awful rip
Knew without looking was filled with despair
By the feel of cold metal my ??? was bare

Getting home was difficult
Trying to keep my modesty intact
Walking with back nearest the wall
Was not an easy act.
It was a cold night snow was on the ground
Serves me right, leave things alone when the parkies not around.

Even with such a reminder I view the playground with awe
Can i swing high enough to go right over the bar?
Well a girl has to try it, don't you agree
Fell off as i knew i would badly  grazed my knee
But i did it, I swung myself so high
Felt like a bird flying in the sky
Was then I let go, silly girl i thought,
As head went bang knocked myself out

But a look of delight came over my face
Not a sign of a rip in this pretty lace
But this is the last time i will play on these things
Cos next year I'm 30 too old for slides and swings
Hmmm will have to think about that one, today is just fine,
Can have another sneaky go, cos I am still 29.

Nothing compares to real life imagery. The swing like a time machine. I can almost feel the butterflies. Nice poem Seren.

In the movie "Logan's Run", the red crystal in your palm would be blinking telling you it's time to go to Carousel. The late Jack Benny stopped counting his years at 39. You're still young yet. This is a fine write.

"Swing on the children's swings When the park keepers not about" Never lose that youthful enthusiasm, dear Seren! Trust me, life can still be a blast even at seventy-seven! Love and hugs, Jack xox
