One Word

Ahhhh! My heart! She said one word, And it shattered my soul, Once so strong, My diamonds are coal! Ridicule, disdain, and disgust Are all her testy mind can must! I am stupid, Indignantly so! How ever with such insults Shall I properly grow? My heart! The pain! The sting of one word! Tis an ache one looks on As grossly absurd! Though as it were, I must grow tall, For such a mere word Shant possibly end it all I shall laugh—HA HA!!! And instead I shall dance, For life is quite great, And I still have on pants! Tis I, a gentleman, Tried and true, Whom shall never be less, E'en when I am with you! HMPH!

Uniquely creative, a talent so rare, but most of all a sweet sweet soul who has enriched this old guy heart and soul beyond words! Of course you know it but I will say it again, (and again, and again!) I love you Laura Breidenthal! Huggs, Jack xxx

The poor guy was rattled by one word. There is little room for honesty in this world. Rather than communicate this, the poor guy is feeling sorry for himself. Rationalization and other defense mechanisms rule over truth. So weak are the minds of men.

He's a strong guy for not letting it get him down for long! Sometimes negative words have a good impact way after the fact. A little benefit of the doubt I suppose. Love yah Duke! ~Laura

Tis but a mystery how one word can cut to one's soul. But cut it does and hurt it must. Steel yourself for there will be more and you are strong. The first cuts the deepest. The rest lay along that scar. You are young and strong. Learn early that those words come from weaklings who envy you. ~ Kilmer

So true. Just that one word also has the power to wound our hearts, piercing deep into the soul. I like how instead you laugh it off, in this poem. Loved reading this awesome poem. Thank you. 7

Yes! I've learned from a dear poet, one must laugh it off!!! This is meant to be a little bit comical, over-dramatic, I should say. Love your kind reviews Nandita, and your clever poetry. ~Laura
