Funeral planning - oh what can I say Not only are you coping with your loss There is so much to arrange The process took us hours and hours Meet with the priest and funeral director Book the church; discuss the flowers Choose the hymns; print the order of service Arrange the catering – how many will attend Dad was popular he has many friends So we catered for 100 - BIG MISTAKE The trestle table was groaning under the weight of the platters There was only about 50 of us… Does anyone fancy a sandwich? 5th March 2015 The left over food got given to a charity for the homeless

Making light of death I feel your heart crying out, struggling to be heard under the weight of your father's funeral and I am moved. Emile. #7

You are a good son of your father so you have remembered him nicely in the poem. Sorry to know that your father is no more here on earth. Certainly He is in heaven because of his nice heart and soul. Even after his death homeless are helped. Loved always my lovely friend, bl

This is wonderful write on such a sad subject. And especially since it's about your Dad. I'm so sorry for your loss.... I tend to stay at home, so some day, won't expect more than a hand full to come to my funeral... Your father must have been greatly loved by many.

I guess having a funeral on a working day means many people can't attend but as the food went to charity it made a bad situation good:-) Hugs Jan xx

My Grandpa had been extremely popular during his life but there were not many at his funeral because many of his fiends had passed before him.

One thing that I found amazing with you, Jan, my dear, is that, in whatever circumstances you find yourself in, your pen always comes up with verses. Liked this one! :D Kim

I couldn't let it pass Kim lol - I have had sandwiches to eat 2 days running - the freezer is fit to bursting with them lol and we gave so many away at the funeral - it was a step learning curve - having never been involved in something like this we know for next time ... mum has even told us the hymns she wants for hers ! Hugs jan xx

I understand the complexity of arranging a service, and the added pressure it puts on one. And the extra sandwiches went to a good cause. You and your family are in my thoughts. love Shane xxx

Hugs, Sweetie...It is so hard to cope with these decisions when a loved one passes away. We were in a daze when Mama passed away. It was good to have friends who helped. Bless you, Love. Hugs
